RAW Video Data Output

A LUMIX first: Apple ProRes Codec Video

Further expanding the versatility of the GH6 for professionals, the camera can record ProRes 422 HQ internally.

The Apple Pro Res HQ codec delivers impressive image quality with low compression, offering shoot, edit, output experience and seamless editing in NLE (non-linear editing) suites, improving workflow and saving time. ･Apple and ProRes are trademarks or registered trademarks of Apple Inc. in the United States and/or other countries.

Direct recording to USB-SSD

With the firmware version 2.2, recording and playback is supported using an external SSD via USB. In addition, the ability to record Apple ProRes 422 HQ (maximum 1.9Gbps) and 4:2:2 10-bit All-Intra directly to SSDs, which combine portability and high capacity has improved efficiency in data backup and post-processing. ･High frame rate video exceeding 60.00p cannot be recorded to an external SSD. ･It is not possible to record video and photo on the SD card or CFexpress card simultaneously while recording it on the external SSD. ･Use an external SSD no more than 2 TB in size that is compatible with USB Type-C. We recommend using an external SSD whose operation has been confirmed by Panasonic. Note beforehand that this is not a guarantee of operation on all devices. ･Latest information on the external SSDs will be available at the following support site at the same time as firmware release: https://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/connect/index.html

The LUMIX GH6 features the first 25.2MP Live MOS sensor in Micro Four Thirds™ system. This new sensor offers our highest dynamic range and features a no low-pass filter design, delivering impressive ultra-realistic detail and sharpness.

In a first for the format, the sensor can combine dual simultaneous readouts of high & low gain circuitry producing higher dynamic range with improved detail in highlights.

The high-speed readout delivers C4K/4K 100/120p video recording and 5.7K 50/60p for ultra-smooth slow motion with minimal rolling shutter distortion. ･The Micro Four Thirds™ name and logos are trademarks or registered trademarks of Olympus Corporation in Japan, the United States, the European Union, and other countries and regions.

Powered by the New Venus Engine

Powered by the new Venus engine the camera packs twice the processing power to enable higher resolutions, frame rates and bit rates than previously. The processor now supports recording in Apple ProRes HQ internally to CF Express Card for high quality low compression video capture.

The GH6 has a new and improved video encoder offering Intelligent Detail Processing and 3D Noise Reduction optimising resolution, colour, and noise performance offering better video output with the same data rates of conventional models.

Unlimited Video Recording Time

Specifically designed to offer unlimited oversampled C4K/4K 50p/60p 10-bit 4:2:2 both internal and external recording when used within the recommended operating temperature*. Ideal for production teams in demanding conditions where mobility and high-quality are a must. *-10-40℃.

High Frame Rate / Variable Frame Rate 10-bit Recording

Pushing the boundaries of mirrorless cameras producing high quality, high bit rate slow motion the GH6 offers variable frame rate recording in Full HD (1920x1080) 10bit 300fps.

To satisfy the requirements of 4K productions the LUMIX GH6 can deliver 4x slow motion in HFR C4K/4K 10-bit 120p/100p. ･Maximum output of sensor is 60fps when Dynamic Range Boost is set to ON.

5.7K 10-bit 50/60p Recording

Those seeking higher than 4K, the GH6 offers 5.7K 10-bit 50/60p recording with flexibility for greater than 4K delivery in slow-motion and speed ramping or digital zoom and pan in post-production.

The GH6 supports multiple options for Anamorphic video, including 5.8K 10 bit 4:3 mode with de-squeezed preview. Handheld anamorphic shooting is made possible with in-body stabilisation system in anamorphic mode, opening a wide range of possibilities for filmmaking.

Smooth Handheld Shooting

Improving on the legacy of the GH5, the GH6 sets the bar for performance of Image Stabilisation (I.S.) systems. Panasonic’s Dual IS system is capable of 7.5-stops of correction for lenses with optical image stabilisation (O.I.S.) reducing the need for tripod or gimbal.

The system features multiple modes for smooth, handheld shots that don’t override intentional movement like panning. “IS Boost” is also included to replicate locked off tripod style shots.

Versatile Monitor to Shoot from any Angle

The first LUMIX G series camera to feature a tilt and free-angle rear monitor. The monitor can be rotated even with an HDMI or USB cable attached to the camera allowing greater flexibility when viewing the monitor while connected to an external recorder or other devices.

Double Memory Card Slot for Flexible Data Management

The LUMIX GH6 supports high-bit-rate video recording with a double memory card slot* for a CFexpress Card (CFexpress Type B) and SD Memory Card (UHS-I/UHS-II UHS Speed Class 3, UHS-II Video Speed Class 90). This enables you to use different recording media depending on your shooting needs.

The dual recording mode allows you to save the same content to both cards at once — creating the all-important redundancy. *For motion pictures with 800Mbps or more, variable frame rate with ALL-Intra, or ProRes, a CFexpress card is required.
